Queenstown to Te Anau

Queenstown

Queenstown: Sig, the poser, with our lovely Rav 4 car and the gondola run in the background.
The funniest start to our day: We left our room with backpacks and suitcases and camera bags and we got stuck in the doorway because we were both squeezing through and trying to hold open a heavy door. OK, it made us laugh.

It took us all day to drive from Queenstown to Te Anau because we kept stopping in likely spots to look for birds. And we ran out of expressions of amazement in reaction to the beautiful scenery.

Californian Quail

Scaup duck

South Island Pied Oystercatchers
A lovely swamp where we found lots of birds

Sheep on lush grass. Sigrid has come from years of drought in northern NSW and can't get over the paddocks like this everywhere.

Red Tussock Reserve

More sheep on green grass.

And even more. The mountains in every view on both sides of the road, all the way to Te Anau.
What a great day. We loved it all.
