There was a bonus when we visited La Pulperie de Chicoutimi (a pulp mill at Chicoutimi), Sanguenay. As well as an excellent museum about the history of the pulp industry that operated on the site in the early 1900s we chanced on a major exhibition about the Tintin comics and books. I had to drag Phil away. I must admit it was pretty good.
The pulp for the mill came from trees harvested in local forests over the winter and floated downstream in the spring. Conditions for the workers in the mill were appalling. The bulk of the pulp was exported to England and France and about a quarter went to the USA to print the New York Times.

We went down along the fjord to La Baie and were surprised to see two cruise ships in the harbour. The little town was buzzing. Helicopter tours, two seaplanes taking passengers on trip down the fjord, little boats carrying passengers to and from one of the ships and people walking the town. I think that earlier in the day there were shuttle buses taking passengers to the main Saguenay town.

Two cruise ships in La Baie harbour - Silver Spirit (Silversea) on the left and Crystal Symphony. We watched as Crystal Symphony left the harbour playing Armstrong's 'What a Beautiful World' over loudspeakers. |
Coffee as we know it is very hard to find. This is my 'latte' that was truly bad. I made a video because the layers 'rocked' as the waitress placed the mug on the table.
It was rocking in time to the music 😂🤣
