Twin Falls

Fancy a bit of basejumping? Legal? I have just the BASE for you. It's the Perrine Bridge, Twin Falls, Idaho. Built in 1976 and 486 feet above the canyon floor it spans the Snake River. Base jumpers come from all over to jump from the bridge but unfortunately we didn't see one in action. We were told it's the only legal base in the US.

The Snake River is big and so is the canyon. And so is the plain that is intensively farmed and irrigated. The town lawns (and cemeteries) are watered as well. Everyone has beautiful lawns. It's a while since I've seen a sprinkler like this.

Intensive dairy. Calves and cows are in a feedlot rather than paddocks.
Also on the Snake River at Twin Falls are the Shoshone Falls. The pamphlet claims they are 50 feet higher than Niagara Falls at 212 feet. They were flowing very fast now in late summer and must be a sight in spring.

We also met a couple of locals, a bird (a Killdeer) and a skipper butterfly (unknown identity).
