Yosemite Valley

Whoever engineered the approach road to Yosemite Valley was a genius. The south entrance is via a long road lined with firs and for the length of it we only saw a few glimpses of a valley or a mountain. And then we were taken through a tunnel and the view as you emerge from the tunnel is breathtaking. Luckily there is a large carpark because everyone stops. That's El Capitan on the left and Half Dome in the distant centre.

Traffic control is excellent. One-way roads and shuttle buses ensure order is maintained because it's hard to concentrate when the scenery is so splendiferous. And there were a lot of people there! A few too many for our liking but I guess we have to share. It was too hot for us to contemplate doing any of the long walking trails but they must be wonderful.

Bridalveil Falls. All the waterfalls were running even though it is late summer.
